Access plans legacy Web Browser Control deprecation in May 2027

Microsoft Access Blog · 2 Nov 2026

Microsoft plans to deprecate the Internet Explorer-based Web Browser Control in Access on May 18, 2027 with version 2705, with the Access LTSC 2024 change planned for May 11. When the change reaches a version, legacy controls will stop loading web content.

An option to load them as Edge Browser Controls will be available but will not be enabled by default. Microsoft recommends identifying affected forms, converting controls, reviewing VBA dependencies and testing authentication, navigation and local content.

Code using the legacy Object property or MSHTML model needs rewriting. Forms already using the Edge Browser Control do not require conversion.

Next step

Convert affected forms to Edge Browser Controls and test related VBA, sign-in and navigation before the planned change.
