Azure SRE Agent prototype demonstrates conversational cost investigations
Microsoft has published a prototype cost-investigation workflow built around Azure SRE Agent, with reusable skills and an importable report template.
It combines Cost Management spending data, Resource Graph inventory and Advisor recommendations to investigate cost movements and identify candidates for review.
The report displays its latest refreshed snapshot; fetching new data directly requires a supported connector. Scoped permissions and source-data reconciliation are required.
Microsoft explicitly describes the package as a prototype, not evidence of production readiness or measured customer savings, and distinguishes estimated opportunities from verified reductions. It is a custom workflow rather than a separate billing product.
