Copilot Business default usage-based billing moves to January–March 2027; sandbox date withdrawn
Default usage-based billing for new CSP Copilot Business purchases is postponed to Microsoft’s FY27 Q3, January–March 2027, replacing December 1, 2026.
Microsoft has also withdrawn the November 2 sandbox availability date; a revised date will be announced, with at least 30 days of sandbox testing before general availability.
The change covers standalone licenses and bundles, and new purchases also enable usage-based billing for existing Copilot Business licenses in the tenant.
The adjustable default limit remains 4,000 Copilot Credits per user per month; charges depend on actual usage. Updated availability applies across all markets, including those previously excluded from initial availability.
Prepare for rollout during January–March 2027; January 1 marks the window opening, not a confirmed launch day. Microsoft will announce sandbox timing, with at least 30 days of testing before general availability.
Previously
Default-on billing was announced for December 1, 2026, with sandbox availability on November 2.
