Five-year Surface commercial protection plans expand to more markets

Microsoft Surface IT Pro Blog · 4 Nov 2026

Microsoft’s November 4 announcement confirms expanded five-year commercial protection options for eligible Surface devices, effective October 1, 2026.

The options cover Extended Hardware Service for mechanical breakdowns and Microsoft Complete for Business, which also covers battery wear and accidental handling damage under applicable terms.

Availability, device eligibility, ordering, coverage and exclusions depend on the market and plan. Microsoft directs customers to their representative or an authorized partner to review those details.

Direct requests through Surface Management Portal are described as coming soon, rather than already available. The expansion gives commercial customers additional protection terms for longer device deployments.
